In fact, that brings me to my favorite feature: audio. I like to listen to Pandora and streaming radio, and I've even learned to keep my data costs down by finding Wi-Fi instead of using the expensive cellular network to stream music. I found the Incredible's Beats Audio sound enhancement easily its most outstanding feature. If you are like me and put a premium on good audio, this might be your next phone.

Verizon sells a Beats Solo headset separately for $180, but even relying on standard earbuds, I was impressed. The marketing materials for Beats are right on when they describe the sound as offering "thundering bass, soaring midrange and crisp highs." In general, the sound produced was also just clearer.

The inclusion of hip-hop legend Dr Dre's Beats Audio technology puts the emphasis on the audio for this handset, via its headphones mostly, and it definitely has something going for it -- mostly in the bass, though there's a striking clarity to the high end too. That won't necessarily be for everyone though, since its low-end leanings tend to favour dance music rather than acoustic fare, which doesn't sound quite as crisp in the midrange -- it's still better than you'll get with just about any headphones supplied with a phone however.

Much like Apple used to do with its look-at-me white earphones, Beats has done with its bright red version, which are now the headphones to be seen with on the street. Fortunately they back up their "mug me" appearance by being very good quality (they use technology from headphone and cable manufacturer Monster), with solid metal casings and noise-isolating grommets -- try them with any phone and you'll hear a definite improvement on the supplied 'phones.
